RSNA To Host MIDRC Town Hall

RSNA will hold an online Town Hall meeting to discuss the Medical Imaging and Data Resource Center (MIDRC). This open-source database houses medical images from tens of thousands of COVID-19 patients. The MIDRC helps doctors better understand, diagnose, monitor and treat COVID-19.

The Town Hall will take place on Friday, March 12 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (CT).  Registration is required to participate.

Discussion during the event will focus on how MIDRC is being used to promote innovation in machine learning and expedite research addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and how radiologists can contribute to and access the database. Areas of discussion and participants will be: 

• Overview: Maryellen L. Giger, PhD, the A.N. Pritzker Distinguished Service Professor of Radiology, Committee on Medical Physics, and the College at the University of Chicago.
• Contributing to MIDRC: Curtis P. Langlotz, MD, PhD, liaison for information technology and annual meeting and professor of radiology and biomedical informatics, director of the Center for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and Imaging, and associate chair for information systems in the Department of Radiology at Stanford University and Etta Pisano, MD, professor in residence of radiology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston.
• Donation pathways: Adam E. Flanders, MD, neuroradiologist and professor at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia and Mike Tilkin, CIO and executive vice president of the American College of Radiology.
• Q&A: Paul Kinahan, PhD, vice chair of radiology research and head of the Imaging Research Laboratory at the University of Washington, Seattle.

MIDRC is funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB) and is jointly developed by representatives of RSNA, the American College of Radiology® (ACR®), and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

The MIDRC data portal is now live and accepting data contributions at MIDRC.org.
